Normal pages (like Sand Box) are open to everybody for reading and writing. Any user can create new wiki articles by just making a Wiki Wiki Link capitalizing words like that. Read more on How To Use Wiki and Adding Pages.
These pages are intended for treating different aspects and generalities of microscopy and deconvolution.
Some special public pages (like the Front Page) were locked for edition, but this affects just a minority of the wiki articles.
Private pages have wiki names like normal pages, followed by an asterisk (*). An example is ThisIsaPrivatePage*. To create, edit or read private pages you have to be logged in. If you are not, you'll be asked to do so when you try to access a private page.
Private pages are just a small amount of the total articles in this wiki.
This level of privacy can be accessed with a login and a password supplied by SVI to costumers with a maintenance contract. For these the private side of the wiki is intended, to treat particular aspects of the Huygens Software, more than generalities about microscopy. (This was done by Changing Php Wiki Code).
When not restricted as explained below, private pages can be accessed by most users that has successfully logged in. (Exceptions are certain users with access limited to just particular pages).
Remember: if you want to create a private article, create its WikiWikiLink* with an asterisk. Otherwise it will be public!
Do you have Login Problems? Please follow that link.
Due to the supportive nature of the private side of the wiki, some private pages are accesible by selected users only, as they may involve personal or sensitive data. If you want to restrict the contents of one article to one user, include the restriction in the very first line of the article, like this:
Allow only: UserName, MyUserName
It can be longer, like in
Allow only: UserName, AnotherUser, MyUserName, user@email.org and (WholeGroup).
UserNames are Wiki Wiki Link's, without spaces and with capital letters to separate name and surname. like in JohnSmith. When you are logged in, you can see your UserName in the header of the wiki. You can also use the user e-mail, but this is less recomendable, as users may want to keep their e-mails private.
(WholeGroup) must always be enclosed between brackets. (SVI) is an example. For most of the wiki users the (WholeGroup) part is just the SVI support number, as in (12345).
Do not forget to include yourself as an authorized user! (In the examples above, MyUserName must be your own UserName).
Any text containing "allow" followed by "only" in the first line is valid to make a restriction. Another silly example could be "The contents of this document are allowed exclusively to JohnSmith only.".
This restriction do not apply to public pages! Do not forget to create your page as private if you want to restrict its contents to some users only.
Members of SVI can access all the contents of this wiki. If you want to create a restricted private page to contact SVI, allow it only to yourself.
If you are a member of SVI and want to make an internal article, allow it only to (SVI), and nobody else would read it.
